Creating the perfect launch is so important to a successful launch. You need a strategic plan to really make sure you follow my favorite motto — go big or go home. Big launches = big profit.
Drive Excitement a Week Before the Launch
You need to make sure you are driving excitement one week prior to your launch. Starting a countdown to you launch is key! Whether you are relaunching, launching a new product, a new line or collection – you need to make sure you give yourself a week of anticipation. Everyday you need to do something to create hype around the launch. Share new products, peeks of the new design, giveaway a product – giving small sneak peeks throughout the week to get everyone excited. The biggest push will be the day of the event.
Giveaways are a Must
The night before the launch, I would hold a giveaway on Instagram & Facebook. I would giveaway the new items that aren’t listed yet and say you can win them before you can buy them! Giving away products not for sell yet is a great way to get customers attention. This will truly gain excitement and get your customers involved. You are expanding your reach as well because when you have a giveaway you are asking your followers and customers to share the giveaway across social media as well as gathering emails for your list. It’s a great way to really expand your reach while building hype for the big launch day.
Make those Edits
Make sure you adjust your website as needed to make sure your launch is the first thing on the site your customers will see. Don’t forget to make those very important edits and add any photos needed to your site prior to your launch. Being prepared is one of the best things you can do when planning ahead and making sure your launch goes smooth.
Create Content that Sells
Create content just for the launch. Make sure you spend time creating the perfect assets to go along with the launch on your site, social media and your newsletter. Flat lays, graphics, etc. should all be exclusive to the launch. New, fresh and never seen before content is the way to go with a new launch. Branding is so important and you must think of the launch as creating a campaign. Remember to be cohesive because well thought out content and photos will make for a very successful launch.
Networking…it is Your Best Friend
Get others involved! Cross promotion as I always say is KEY. Network, network, network. Don’t be afraid to share your launch and big news with everyone and anyone. Networking has so many benefits when it comes to a new launch. I would strongly suggest taking time a month or so before hand and reach out to influencers within your industry, ask to send product on a specific date to share your special launch. You will be surprised how many will be willing to be part of it because everyone loves supporting each other. I’ve created some of the best launches for my clients thanks to the social influencers and brands we’ve been able to get involved. That includes other small biz brands or shops too. They are social influencers as well! Networking with other brands to share your launch, trade product for photos, etc. is always a great way to get a similar audience to mention your launch. Get creative with your launch and get the community involved.
The Date Can Make It Or…Break It
I strongly suggest launching on a Friday. Why? Well, believe it or not – that’s pay day in the corporate world and it’s more likely your customers will have cash to spend. This gives you plenty of time to hype up the launch the week before while keeping the excitement going through the weekend and into a new week. Never, ever, ever launch near or around a holiday!
I know it’s not Black Friday but….door busters the day of the launch? Yes! Every few hours on the day of the launch you could give something away of your own new product via Instagram as well as have a discount code and quick Instagram giveaways. You can tie it all into one so just decide how many you want to do within a day — create a hashtag around your launch and when you post the winner also post a discount code for those who didn’t win. Example — for the next 2 hours use GOTIT for 20% off new merchandise, etc. and every few hours, do different fun, sales and giveaways for the day. Keeping it fun is always a great way to make sure customers are paying attention and excited about what is to come. For example, if you have 4 new tee-shirt designs coming up, consider splitting up the time and discounts throughout the day. Shirt Design 1 is 20% off for the next 2 hours. Shirt Design 2 is 20% off for the next 2 hours after that and so on. This will give everyone the chance to get a discount and perhaps get all of the tees as the day goes on!
Don’t forget to set a specific goal of visitors, followers and sales. Write it down and help yourself get there when you are creating plans for your product launch. Make sure you create a reasonable goal for your brand.
